Spring 2019, marked the launch of our Player Mentorship Program. As a community-oriented club that focuses on developing the individual on and off the field, our long-term goal is for come of our players to aspire to become coaches and continue to serve their community through soccer in years to come. We’re excited that the Player Mentorship Program can start that process.
Player Mentor Responsibilities Outline:
The Player Mentor would not simply be a ball fetcher or water boy – it is expected that he/she would work closely with the coaches to be a real part of the coaching team.
They will assist with practice for our J2 program (Ages 5-7).
Player Mentors know what it’s like to be a beginner soccer player and can teach the basics well to our J2 players.
Additionally, player mentors can look up to and learn from the TSA coaching staff.
The program allows growth for our mentors and provides roles models for our younger athletes.
-Get a taste of coaching
-Offer their insights into the game
-Are active in the game and offer current developments to help younger players
-“…If I knew then what I know now…..”
-Reference provided at years end
-Can use the documented hours towards credits for volunteer time
-Have an assistant
-Can rely on an active and enthusiastic helper
-Can design real-time drills/scenarios and have an extra set of eyes etc.
-Can see what they can become
-Can see that they are close and by continuing to develop their skills, they will get closer
-Benefit from “…If I knew then what I know now…”
-Active players can reinforce practice and game time technique etc.
While this is a voluntary program, it is highly encouraged.
We are looking for Player Mentors from the 06 Boys, 06 Girls, and 04/05 Boys.
The dates will be every first and third Monday of the month from 5:00-6:00 PM.
Our first cycle will start on February 4th. It will include 2/18, 3/4, and 3/18.
Please contact Coach Diego or Coach Fernando if you and your player are interested or if you have any questions.
We’re incredibly thankful for our player mentors giving their time and energy to the club.
